My Savingram No. 169 of 12th February, 1951. Public Services Commission.
1.
As I indicated in my savingram under reference, Mr. Megarry left the Colony in March, the actual date of his departure being 15th March, 1951. It had been intended that Mr. J.R. Jones, M.C., a member of the Commission, should assume the Chairmanship on Mr. Megarry's departure and pending the arrival of the extra Puisne Judge whose appointment was approved in your telegram No.333. However, at the time of Mr. Megarry's departure Mr. Jones was temporarily absent from the Colony, and I appointed Sir Man Kam Lo, Kt., C.B.E., also a member of the Commission, to act temporarily as Chairman. Mr. C.C. Roberts, Manager of Butterfield & Swire, who was a member of the Conditions of Service Committee in 1948, was appointed at the same time to be temporarily a member of the Commission.
2.
Mr. J.B. Jones, who has agreed to act as Chairman of the Commission for a period of 3 months from the date of Mr. Megarry's departure, returned to the Colony and assumed the acting duties of Chairman on 3rd April.
